Aim:To study the pattern of tuberculous uveitis in patients at Uvea services in a Tertiary eye care Centre.
Material and methods: An observational study was done on 30 patients with tubercular uveitis fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria between 2014 and 2016. A thorough history, systemic and ocular examination was done. Blood investigations such as complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, TORCH screening and HIV ELISA were done. Tuberculin skin test, chest x ray and chest physician opinion were obtained.
Results: Of 30 patients, 7(23%) were granulomatous anterior uveitis, 13(43%) were Intermediate uveitis, 9(30%) were posterior uveitis and 1(4%) panuveitis.
Conclusion: Pattern of tubercular uveitis follows such that it commonly presents as Intermediate uveitis followed closely by posterior uveitis. And hence a high degree of clinical suspicion in cases of intermediate uveitis is needed.
