PURPOSE:To study visual outcome in patients implanted with posterior iris claw lens- 6 month follow- up.
METHODS:Retrospective study in tertiary care hospital-Department of Ophthalmology.Study includes 30 cases.
Exclusion criteria:Traumatic cataract with posterior segment pathologies.
Inclusion criteria:Subluxation of lens/Surgically aphakic patient.
The cases belonged to two clinical settings :1.Elective secondary IOL implantation 2.Those with intra – op lens/IOL dislocation or subluxation.Cases were followed up under:Visual acuity assessment,Intraocular pressure,Slit lamp examination of anterior and posterior segment,Specular microscopy for corneal endothelial count.
RESULT: Among the 30 cases that were studied and followed up-
83.33% (N=25)of the cases had post-operative visual acuity of 6/9.
93.33% (N= 28)of the cases had postoperatively intraocular tension within normal limits.
CONCLUSION:Posterior claw lens is an easy and affordable alternative for SFIOL with good visual outcome.
