Aim: To evaluate dysphotopsia in subjects with different intraocular lenses (IOLs)
Methods: Subjects with monovision, multifocal & trifocal IOLs were included. Dysphotopsia questionnaire was administered in all the patients to evaluate glare related symptoms while performing different tasks with lower score indicating reduced glare problem.
Results: 62, 32, 30 patients implanted with monofocal, multifocal and trifocal IOLs respectively. Monovision had lower dysphotopsia score as compared to other two groups. 54% of the patients with monovision did not notice unwanted images as compared to multifocal (19%) & trifocal (25%) (P<0.05). 56 % of the monovision patients were satisfied with the existing IOL, compared to multifocal 18% & trifocal 24% (P<0.05). Patients with monovision did not noticed glare while driving or walking (75%), while reading in dim (93%) & bright light (58%). Conclusion: Monovision patients had less dysphotopsia while performing task at different illuminations.
