AIM-To find out the prevalence of DR and Correlation of various risk factors with type 2 DM
MATERIAL&METHOD
A Prospective study was done on total 541 patients with age >30yrs & duration of type 2 DM >5yr
Result
The prevalence of DR in diabetics was 27.35% with mean age of presentation being 56.53+9.29yr
NPDR,PDR & DME was present in 22.92%,4.43%&12.01% of total patients with DR respectively
Mean duration of illness in DR was 11.31±6.21&was significantly associated(p=0.04)
Poor glycemic control(p<.001),Hypertension(p<0.005%),dyslipidemia(P<0.05),Anaemia (p<0.05),Diabetic nephropathy were significantly associated with DR Patients on OHA (p<0.05)had significant association with DR as compared to those on insulin. Conclusion Prevalence of DR among type 2 diabetics is 27.35% NPDR is most common type Most of the patients are observed in 5th decade Duration of type 2DM,family history,poor glycemic control,hypertension,anemia,dyslipidemia & nephropathy have significant association with DR
