Objective:To study clinical profile and growth of organism on culture media in tribal area of Gujarat
Methods:This is retrospective study of 30 patients presenting at our centre with corneal ulcer
A detailed history was obtained from each patient with respect to Occupation, mode of injury, time since injury, any previous treatment taken. visual acuity, Intraocular pressure measurement by tono pen, Slit lamp examination, anterior segment photograph, Corneal Scraping done with Blade and sample sent for Gram stain, Wet KoH mount, and culture on SDA and Blood agar. Growth observed on SDA agar
Result: Out of 31 patients on culture,10 patients showed F.Solani colonies, fusarium Oxysporium in 3 patients followed by Aspergilus (9), Penicillium (6). One patient each showed Growth of Curvularia, and F. Dimerum
Conclusion:Vegetative injury was most common mode of injury. Most common occupation was farming. Most common growth found on culture was fusarium soloni(30%) followed by Aspergilus (25%).
