Dacryocele is a rare clinical presentation of Congenital Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction. Dacryocele presents as a bluish swelling over the medial canthus. When seen endoscopically through the nose, there usually is an intranasal pus-filled cyst present in such cases. These cysts can be large enough to block the airway passage in the nose on the affected side. In our video, we describe the case of an 18 day old child with bilateral congenital dacryoceles. Infants are obligate nasal breathers and in bilateral dacryoceles, the nasal passages on both sides is blocked and the child may present with respiratory distress. During breastfeeding there is a possibility of the baby choking as well. Therefore intervention in bilateral dacryocele is essential. In this video, we discuss the pathology, etiogenesis of darcyoceles and show the correct endoscopic technique of marsupialization of dacryoceles. Ophthalmologists must be aware of the possible complications that may arise from dacryoceles.
