Aim:To compare various ocular parameters obtained with optical biometer OA-2000 to IOL Master500 in eyes with cataract
Methods & Material:104 eyes of 59 subjects included in study.Measurements of axial length(AL),anterior chamber depth(ACD),keratometry(K1,K2) & astigmatism of OA-2000 were compared with IOL Master500
Results:Mean age 59.23 years & males/females ratio 32/27.Mean AL,K1,K2 & astigmatism showed no significant difference as P values were 0.418,0.827,0.703 & 0.052 respectively between 2 machines.Only mean ACD values of both biometers showed statistical significant difference,P=0.0004.IOL Master500 measured AL in only 89 eyes as compared to 103 in OA-2000.IOL Master couldn’t measure AL in 15 eyes due to 9 dense PSC,4 mature & 2 black nuclear cataracts.Additionally, lens thickness was measured in OA-2000
Conclusions:Although no statistical significance was found in ALs & other parameters excluding ACD,OA-2000 proved more effective in measuring dense PSC & dense nuclear cataracts
