Purpose: To assess the incidence of post-operative endophthalmitis in Resurgery cases after cataract surgery including secondary IOL implantation at high volume hospital in south India.Risk factors, causative organisms, visual acuity outcome of endophthalmitis after re-surgery were studied.
Method:Retrospective study of 10 cases of post-op endophthalmitis in re-surgery cases {total 4392} in 7 year[ Jan 2010 to Dec 2016].Clinical data collected from MRD. Study included cases which had Resurgery within 3 month of primary cataract surgery and which developed endophthalmitis within 6 month of Resurgery.
Result:40% had Diabetes, 90%had secondary IOL implantation [IFIOL60%, SFIOL 20%, IOL exchange10%]. 80% had prolene haptic. Coagulase negative staphlococci seen in 20% cases
Conclusion:Endophthalmitis after resurgery was associated with DM,prolene haptic, coagulase negative staphylococci. Most cases presented within a week and post-treatment visual outcome was good
