Objective: To determine the prevalence of childhood ocular morbidity and their demographic characteristics.Materials and methods: This is a cross sectional observational study conducted on patients of ≤ 16 years attending outpatient department between the period from September,2016 to February,2017 in a tertiary hospital of Assam. Results: a total of 1023 children were examined in this study, among them 50.53% were males and 49.46% were females. The majority cases were observed in older children(11-16). The most common ocular morbidity encountered was refractive errors, conjunctival diseases and ocular injury.Conclusion: Majority of ocular morbidities are treatable hence health education to prevent ocular injuries is very important as well as Early presentation of children to eye care facilities for eye disorders is necessary to prevent complications.
