AIM-to determine the pattern of childhood ocular morbidity in patients. Materials and Methods- A prospective study among patients of age group 0-15 years, who were admitted over a period from January to September 2016, was conducted. Their demographic data, diagnosis, and treatment was collected and analysed.
Results- A total of 200 patients were studied, out of which 127 were males and 73 were females. Patients from urban area were more in number than rural counterparts, owing to more awareness in former. The most common morbidity encountered was cataract, followed by ocular trauma. Third most common was Neuroretinal disorders.Conclusion- Among pediatric age group, cataract was most common ocular morbidity to warrant admission in hospital. Though ocular trauma, retinoblastoma and retina disorders also formed significant proportion. Screening of pediatric population for ocular morbidities may help in early diagnosis and prompt intervention in them.
