It is a novel technique to explant the intraocular lens from capsular bag. I invented this innovative technique to dissect the IOL from capsular bag. In this technique at first anterior chamber is collapsed to break adhesions between lens and capsule. Fluid turbulence is created by irrigation and aspiration to further break adhesions. Anterior chamber is formed with methyl cellulose mixed with balanced salt solution. Then air is injected behind the lens so that air gets trapped between lens and posterior capsule. Due to high surface tension property of air, space created between lens and posterior capsule and lens get lifted. Air bubble is moved all around lens so that lens gets separated completely from posterior capsule. Haptics of lens prolapsed in anterior chamber then rest of lens externalized from the bag. Therefore Pneumatic dissection of lens to explant intraocular lens is a safe technique with no learning curve and does not need any special instruments.
