Background: Posterior capsular rent (PCR) is an iatrogenic breach in the continuity of posterior lens capsule. This complication depends upon the case, surgeon’s experience & skill. We analyzed how PCR occurs at different steps and it`s management aimed at getting surgical outcomes comparable to an uncomplicated surgery. A well-managed PCR results in good visual outcome, early visual rehabilitation minimal secondary complications.
Aim: Surgical demonstration of management of PCR, at different steps, in clear corneal phacoemulsification surgery.
Method: Interventional video based series from a tertiary care eye hospital.
Results: PCR may occur at various steps in phacoemulsification surgery. PCR management techniques differ according to the stage at which this complication occurs.
Conclusion: Technique used for management of PCR varies according to the stage at which it occurs.
