Posterior segment complications following Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (AGV) in 2 eyes with previous vitreous surgery, will be discussed.
The first case is an 8-year boy, who presented with angle recession glaucoma and vitreous hemorrhage OD following trauma. IOP was 38mmHg. The patient underwent vitrectomy. After 2 weeks, AGV surgery was performed. On first postoperative day, patient developed premacular sub-ILM bleed. After 4 weeks, the blood became more organized with thickening of overlying ILM.
The second case was a 63-year female who had undergone vitrectomy for non-resolving vitreous hemorrhage following complicated cataract surgery. The IOP was 42mmHg on maximum anti-glaucoma medication. The patient was diagnosed as pseudophakic intractable glaucoma and AGV surgery was planned. The patient developed kissing choroidal detachment (CD) following surgery, which did not resolve despite steroid therapy. Drainage of suprachoroidal fluid was performed using a modified scleretomy technique.
