Aim: To compare the capsular changes following HOYA VIVINEX®iSERT (ISert) and Acrysof IQ (IQ) intraocular lens implantation (IOL)
Material and methods:
It was a prospective study where patients implanted with ISert and IQ IOLs were included. Post-surgery on 15 and 30 days anterior capsular rim thickness on the nasal and temporal side, and capsulorrhexis sizes were compared between the 2 IOL.
Results:
In this study 15 and 13 eyes were implanted with ISert and IQ respectively. At 15 and 30 days follow up, anterior capsular rim thickness at was significantly different nasally at point of contact (p=0.02) and 100 µ away from it (p<0.001). Temporally it showed non-significant difference at both locations (p>0.05). Capsulorrhexis size was significantly different in both the IOLs (p=0.02).
Conclusion:
Anterior capsular rim thickening were lesser with Hoya Vivinex IOL as compared to Acrysof IQ
