INCLUSION CRITERIA-All Patients(80) with diabetic nephropathy in type 2 DM,Age above 30.EXCLUSION CRITERIA-Hazy media,P/h/o of retinal laser photocoagulation and active urinary tract infection.
METHODOLOGY-Patients were explained the nature of the study and informed consent was taken.All patients underwent a detailed work-up including history, general physical examination, systemic examination and ocular examination.RESULTS- The duration of diabetes was ranging from 1 – 35yrs.The mean age group was 56.In this study 63% were males and 37% were females.The duration of symptoms in most of the patients was between 6-12 months.Majority i.e. 60% of patients had proteinuria between 300-3000 mg/24 hr.In the group with microalbuminuria 50% of the patients did not have any retinopathy and 25% had mild NPDR. In macroproteinuria group a significant proportion of patients i.e. 55 % had mild to moderate NPDR.The relationship between proteinuria and retinopathy is statistically significant.
