OSSN includes a spectrum of conjunctival and corneal epithelial neoplasia manifesting as dysplasia, carcinoma-in-situ and invasive squamous cell carcinoma. OSSN can be diagnosed by techniques such as Impression Cytology, Confocal Microscopy and Histopathology.Impression cytology refers to the histology of superficial layers of ocular surface epithelium . 50 excision biopsies were performed for suspected OSSN. There were correlation with impression cytology in 47 cases [94%] , In 3 cases there were no correlation [6%] . 2 cases out of 3 showed dysplastic changes in impression cytology and HPE showed no dysplasia. The remaining one was normal in impression cytology but HPE showed severe dysplastic changes. Based on this study , it can be concluded that impression cytology can be used as a Screening Tool in the diagnosis of OSSN. But Histopathology always remains the gold standard in diagnosing OSSN.
