AIM- To study comparision of Vitamin A & Carbomer combination E/O with standard lubricating gels for treating ocular surface defects.
METHOD – It is a prospective observational study conducted in institute from May 2015- Jan 2017. Total of 116 patients taken out of which 58(50%) were given VITAMIN A & Carbomer E/O and 58(50%) normal lubricating gels and all were under respective etiologic treatment coverage.
RESULT- Out of those 58 pts who were given VITAMIN-A & Carbomer E/O showed faster recovery than their lubricating counterparts with recovery seen as soon as 1st week in first group compared to 2nd-3rd week in second group and of the 58, only 6(10.8%)had residual Dry Eye Syndrome compared to 2nd group where it was 13(22.4%).statistical improvement was p<0.05. CONCLUSION – VITAMIN- A & Carbomer E/O is faster acting in healing ocular surface defects than standard lubricating gels and also causes reduced incidence of dry eye syndrome.
