FP192 : Various Presentations And Clinical Features Of Monocular Elevation Deficiency Syndrome

Monocular elevation deficiency is a term denoting the congenital deficiency of monocular elevation that is equal in adduction and abduction. We wanted to review additional clinical features.

METHODS:

We retrieved data from EMR ,reviewed and analysed.

RESULTS:

Of the 39 patients 20(%) male and 19(%) female, 21 RE and 18 LE,26(66.5%) good and 13(33%) poor bells, pre op SR movement present in 28(71.5%) absent in 9(23.1%).Out of all 8 patients had positive marcus gunn phenomena, amblyopia was found in 24(61.5%) Preoperative vertical deviation was between 0 to 45prism diopter .Twenty had positive forced duction test on elevation. Blephero ptosis found—- cases, out of which — good levator function.

CONCLUSION:

MEDS is a rare condition causing structural and functional problems this may present with different features.
