Posterior capsular opacification is the most common complication of cataract surgery.Due to advancement in surgery, IOL material and design, rate of PCO formation is reduced but stiil a problem. It is prospective study conducted on 200 eyes of 180 patients.who undrwent routine phacoemulsification followed by foldable IOL( acrylic hydrophilic and hydrophobic IOL) implantation in the bag.All surgery were performed by single surgeon to avoid surgical bias.In this study we compare the visual acquity and PCO rate formation on follow up upto 2 year of surgery. Results have shown that hydrophobic IOL are little better than hydrophilic IOL in regards of VA and PCO formation(p<0.5).we can conclude that both type of IOL are good but hydrophobic gives better result than hydrophilic.
