Aim:To compare visual outcome and refractive stability between femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery(FLACS) and standard phacoemulsification.Design:A restrospective study, single surgeon setting, tertiary eye care centre,Kolkata,India.Materials and methods:A retrospective study was done on50 Eyes treated withFLACS 2 years back and 50standard uncomplicated phacoemulsification.Their medical records reviewed. Both groups had pcIOL implantation. The visual acuity aided & unaided,IOLcentration,CCCsize, shape & fibrosis, correlation of IOL positioning with both centrality and axiality determined. Results:Out of total 100cases,46 eyes(92%) in theFLACS group and 35 eyes (70%) in the conventional group were within +/-0.50 D of the target refractive outcome. The cases inFLACS had centered IOLwith lesser amount of capsular fibrosis with better refractive stability than the other group with standard phacoemulsification. Conclusion: FLACS yielded better visual outcome and stabilization of refraction
