Objectives:To determine the effect of LPI as primary mode of treatment in ACGs.
Methodology: A Prospective study on patient with ACG with the sample size of 30 eyes carried
out from Jan.2016-Jan.2017. After detail work up for glaucoma, LPI done in patient
with occludable angles. Follow up period was 3 months.
Results:30 eyes of 19 patients were evaluated,19 women &11 men. 68.33% had therapeutic &
36.6% had prophylactic LPI. In 10(33.33%) eyes IOP was controlled from 31.25 to 18.31 mmHg
with PI. IOP In 8(26.66%)eyes was controlled from 28.20 to 22.25 mmHg with PI,1 drug added
progression to CACG & prophylactic treatment in PAC & PACS.
so ≥2 anti glaucoma drugs added for target IOP 18.9 mmHg.3(10%) eyes required SST due to
advanced glaucomatous changes and increased IOP even after drugs with PI.
Conclusion:LPI is an effective primary mode of treatment to prevent another attack of AACG or
to achieve target IOP 19 mmHg. In 9(27%)eyes was controlled from 30.75 to 20 mmHg with PI
