Congenital simple hamartoma is a rare and benign tumour of the retinal pigment epithelium. These tumours usually occur in the parafoveal macula as solitary, darkly pigmented and well circumscribed lesions. Owing to their location, they are usually asymptomatic lesions. We present two cases of congenital simple hamartoma at the fovea which resulted in decreased vision. In both the cases, optical coherence tomography scans revealed inner layer hyperreflectivity lesion at the fovea with complete back-shadowing. The adjoining macula was normal. The lesion and the visual acuity remained stable over the observation period.
