Purpose- To compare gonioscopy and anterior segment Optical Coherence Tomography (ASOCT) in traumatic glaucoma
Materials and methods- 35 eyes of traumatic glaucoma underwent gonioscopy and ASOCT. With ASOCT, TISA500 (trabecular-iris space area 500 µm anterior to scleral spur), TISA750, AOD500 (angle opening distance) and AOD750 were measured. An agreement was found with gonioscopy findings.
Results- At pre-treatment stage, TISA750 had a statistically significant (SS) agreement (p<0.001) with gonioscopy, while TISA500 (p=0.77), AOD500 (p=0.09) and AOD750 (p=0.09) did not have SS agreement. At post treatment, AOD500 (p=0.005) and AOD750 (p=0.005) had a SS agreement but TISA500 (p=0.679) and TISA750 (p=0.756) did not have. Conclusions- The observed difference between gonioscopy and ASOCT might be due to variation in iris profile, level of iridoangle contact and anterior segment abnormalities from traumatic distortions, affecting visualization of angle on ASOCT.
