Purpose:To study the clinical profile and treatment outcome of SO.
Methods&Materials:13 patients,diagnosed with SO from 2011-2017 were evaluated retrospectively. Thorough workup ruled out the differentials .Follow up ranged from 1month-4years.
Results:With mean age of 57years,7(54%) were females & 6(46%) males.Initial BCVA ranged from 6/12-CFCF.Inciting event was penetrating trauma in 55%,blunt trauma in27%,surgery in 18%.While 7(54%) had prodromes,the interval between sensitization& presentation ranged from 5days-50 years.Treated with steroids &immunosuppressants in 11& only steroids in 2 patients,it resolved in 4(31%) without sequeale. But 4(31%) had cataract,3(23%) had glaucoma,1(7.5%)choroidal neovascular membrane and 1(7.5%) both cataract & glaucoma.With nil recurrences,final BCVA was 6/6 to 6/9 in 27%, 6/12 to 6/18 in 64%, 1/60 in 9%.
Conclusion:Prompt clinical suspicion,early intervention & good compliance dramatically improves the visual outcome in SO.
