A prospective analytical study was carried out to analyse the effects of Anterior capsular polishing in patients undergoing cataract surgery by phacoemulsification + PCIOL implantation. A comparative analysis was carried out between two groups of patients, one with anterior capsular polishing and one without capsular polishing. All other factors and variables including the type of PCIOL, CCC size, etc were kept same. All patients were kept on followup for a period of 01 year after the surgery. On analysis, it was seen that anterior capsular polishing significantly reduced the incidence of capsular contraction and also after-cataract(PCO) formation in this group of patients as compared to the other group. It is recommended that anterior capsular polishing should be carried out in all patients undergoing cataract surgery.
