Aim : To evaluate the efficacy of sutureless / glueless technique of pterygium surgery.
Method : 42 patients of primary pterygium were divided into 2 groups (Group A & Group B); each comprising 21 patients. In group A patients, the conjunctival autograft was not sutured to the bare sclera; wherein haem acted as a natural glue. In group B patients, the conjunctival autograft was sutured.
Results : The graft was well taken up in both groups except 2 Cases in group A, where grafts were rejected. Recurrence after 6 months of follow up was almost similar (2 Cases in group A and 1 Case in group B; p > 0.05).
Conclusion : Sutureless / glueless conjunctival autograft technique with haem is a simplified approach to primary pterygium surgery with less recurrence.
