Purpose-To evaluate sclera in patients with scleritis using optical coherence tomography.
Method-Prospective Observational Case series of SDOCT findings in scleritis with age matched controls. The SDOCT images were analysed with clinical photographs at presentation and during follow up.
Results-30 patients of scleritis with 10 normal controls.Diffuse scleritis in 14patients revealed increased scleral thickness with dilated scleral vessels. A large area of hyporeflectivity in 9patients with nodular scleritis.Area of hyperreflectivity with scleral thinning in 1Case of scleromalacia perforans.Altered scleral contourin 2 Cases with scleral thinning in 3Cases of necrotizing scleritis. In 4 posterior scleritis there is increased sclerochoroidal thickness. Followup scan revealed thinning of sclera with altered pattern in necrotizing scleritis and normal pattern in diffuse scleritis
Conclusion-OCT can be used as an additional diagnostic modality in diagnosis & management of scleritis
