Introduction: Molluscum contagiosum is an infectious disease of the skin with umbilicated epithelial nodules appearing most commonly on the face and hands of young persons.
Aim: To report a rare Case of eyelid molluscum contagiosum with keratoconjunctivitis.
Method: The patient’s records are retrospectively reviewed.
Results: The patient presented with lid nodules, pain, watering and photophobia in her left eye. She had 5 dermal lesions on the upper lid, with 1 on the lid margin, follicles on the palpebral conjunctiva, a marked ciliary congestion, stromal keratitis with negative fluorescein staining. She was treated for viral follicular keratoconjunctivitis. 4 weeks later, an incision & curettage of the lid margin nodule was done due to pain, progressive enlargement and lid movement difficulty; HPE confirmed the diagnosis.
Conclusion: Molluscum contagiosum of eyelids is a treatable cause of follicular keratoconjunctivitis. Nodules warrant intervention if they become tender or infected.
