A 9 year old girl was brought to the Ophthalmology Out Patient Department of a Tertiary Care Hospital of West Bengal with a unilateral central corneal opacity of left eye (L/E) present since birth. On examination the child was found to have no Perception of Light (L/E), a central adherent leukoma, irregular anterior
Chamber depth, extensive anterior synichae with presence of Iris strands. The other eye was absolutely normal. No systemic anomalies were detected on investigations. There was no positive family history. The child was diagnosed as having Anterior Segment Mesenchymal Dysgenesis or Peter’s Anomaly type 1.
