AimĀ : To study visual outcome following intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) and focal laser in diabetic macular edema (DME). Primary objective is to evaluate the improvement in BCVA. Secondary objective is to evaluate the central macular thickness (CMT) using OCT following IVB and focal laser in DME.
Materials and MethodĀ : Observational study done on patients with DME from November 2015 to October 2016 who underwent IVB and focal laser. BCVA and CMT were assessed at 1 week 1 month 3 months and 6 months after the procedure. Statistical analysis was performed using paired t-test.
Results : Significant visual improvement was evident from 1 month post procedure and continued to improve over 6 months (p<0.001) The average change in CMT pre and post intervention was found to be statistically significant (p<0.001) at 6 months
Conclusion : Combined treatment with IVB and focal laser is effective in reducing the retinal thickness measured by OCT and significantly improving BCVA.
