Persistent dispersed vitreous hemorrhage post vitrectomy is a troublesome situation for the patient &surgeon.A novel, technique of Nd:YAG capsulotomy in 10 pseudophakic patients having persistent dispersed Vitreous Hemorrhage, operated of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. After primary vitrectomy these patients had dispersed vitreous hemorrhage till 1 month post op. Nd:Yag laser(wavelength 1064nm) was used to create 3 openings in aphakic area of posterior capsule around the optic of iol.Patients showed decrease in vitreous hemorrhage as it got drained out through the trabecular meshwork outflow. It is based on the fact that dispersed haemorrhage clears earlier in aphakics than phakics.Patients given steroid and antiglaucoma medication post laser and close follow up for IOP .Thus,it is a simple yet novel noninvasive, safe and effective technique to clear the postoperative vitreous hemorrhage in pseudophakic eyes with intact posterior capsule without patient undergoing additional surgery.
