• Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms(DRESS) syndrome is a rare life threatening multisystem adverse drug reaction characterized by skin rash, hematologic abnormalities and visceral involvement.Primary ocular involvement has been reported in only few cases among adults. We report a case of bilateral acute anterior uveitis and angle closure glaucoma associated with carbamazepine induced DRESS syndrome in a child. An 11-year old boy presented with severe pain and diminished vision both eyes 6 weeks after starting carbamazepine for seizure disorder.Ocular examination revealed bilateral acute anterior uveitis and angle closure glaucoma secondary to uveal effusion.Prompt recognition and appropriate treatment led to complete recovery. Ophthalmologists should be aware that uveitis, although rare can be the presenting feature of anticonvulsant hypersensitivity syndrome.High degree of suspicion and cessation of offending drug can prevent sight and life threatening complications.
