Purpose: To evaluate the changes in scleral thickness of patients suffering from scleritis
Methods: Crossectional prospective case series evaluating sclera thickness of five patients who presented with scleritis both at the site of inflammation and at the corresponding region of the contralateral healthy eye.
Results: The mean thickness of the sclera in the eyes affected by scleritis was 1035 mm compared to 838 mm (p <0.01) in the fellow eye. Mean thickness in the unaffected eyes was found to be 0.73 ± 0.15mm superiorly, 0.75 ± 0.37 mm inferiorly,0.79 ± 0.17mm nasally and 0.8 ± 0.24 mm temporally when measured at a distance of 2 mm from the limbus. Conclusion: AS- OCT is a useful imaging tool to monitor disease progression in scleritis.
