Purpose:
To evaluate the uncommon complications encountered in LASIK
Method:
A retrospective analysis was done on 8000 LASIK eyes performed from March 2000 to 2012 Rare complications were occurred in 11 patients. M2 Moria microkeratome with disposable blade of 90u was used.
Results:
Among 11 patients, Central toxic keratopathy (CTK) developed 8 eyes (right) of 8 patients; 1eye had central epithelial in-growth who had prior RK surgery, bilateral 360degree marginal intra stromal abscess in 1 case who was feeding mother whose child had pneumonia. 1 eye had flap migration 2nd post operative week.
Conclusion:
Despite the technological advances in LASIK, the surgeon should aware about the unexpected complications.
