Dr. Subhash Prasad
Phacoemulsification in eyes who have undergone surgery for other ocular diseases always present challenges in overall management. Cataract in eyes who are operated for glaucoma, vitreoretinal conditions, post
keratoplasty, lasik/radial keratotomy and after intravitreal injections have different patterns of onset, progression, management challenge and outcome. There are more risk of complications in these operated eyes who are already sick eyes and require very meticulous planning, proper intraocular IOL power calculation, particularly in post keratoplasty,lasik/rk and silicone oil filled eyes.Requires gentle as well as safe approach in post
trab, keratoplasty, post VR and post injection cataract to avoid injury to bleb, endothelium, posterior capsule etc. Some of these patients require different postoperative care also because of risk of graft failure, bleb
scarring, retinal detachment. This course will highlight how these operated eyes need to be treated differently to get best possible outcome.
