Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of diode laser cyclophotocoagulation (DLCP) with anterior chamber paracentesis in patients with refractory glaucoma. Methods: This retrospective study analysed 30 patients with refractory glaucoma treated with DLCP with anterior chamber paracentesis from July to December 2016 in a tertiary eye hospital. Refractory glaucoma was defined as intraocular pressure (IOP) > 21 mm Hg on maximum tolerated medical therapy with or without prior glaucoma surgical procedures. Results: Mean (±SD) age of study population was 52.4±15.4 years with 20 males (66.7%) and 10 females (33.3%). Mean pretreatment IOP was 43.07±12.69 mm Hg and mean post-treatment IOP was 20.43±12.13 and 22.41±9.54 mm Hg at 1 and 3 months respectively. Three patients had hyphema and 1 had hypotony which resolved with conservative management. Conclusion: DLCP with anterior chamber paracentesis is effective in reducing IOP in patients with refractory glaucoma.
