Magnitude of childhood Blindness in India has profound Socio Economic Impact and the Relief Measures seem to be suboptimal in terms of Case finding and Effective Management.This IC examines the ever increasing Gulf between Demand for Childhood Relief activities and scanty supply of Resources & Action.The Community Initiatives in our Country are skewed towards Adult blindness and the Course Correction by adding Pediatric Components like mandatory School Screening,Anganawadi screening are much needed,which are covered in this IC.There are many Government funded Schemes for Childhood Blindness which needs to be put into better use and Low Vision also needs to be addressed effectively.This Course elucidates the importance of recognising the new menace of ROP,suggesting Novel Screening strategies & Low cost management techniques.The Childhood Blindness needs to be tackled by coordinated efforts of Government, NGOs and INGOs , the Roadmap of which has been discussed in detail.
