Dr.Santosh Kumar
We live in an era of litigation and court cases and malpractice suits against ophthalmologists are on the rise. Nearly 10,000 medico-legal cases are pending in various courts with aggrieved patients seeking legal remedy. The doctor patient relationship has transformed from reverence to being attacked by family members of patients for alleged medical negligence.unsatisfied patient and complainants often use criminal cases to pressurize medical professionals and to extract unjust compensation. This results in serious embarrassment and harassment to doctors who are forced to seek bail to escape arrest.Later they may be exonerated but they would have already suffered a loss of reputation.A knowledge of jurisprudence is no longer a matter of choice but imperative for all.All doctors have a legal duty to comply with and ignorance of law and its implications may not stand legal testing This course will sensitise regarding existing legal guidelines and day to day case scenarios
