Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) is the definitive management for nasolacrimal duct obstruction. External and endonasal are the two approaches, external DCR (Ex-DCR) being the gold standard method. Due to better cosmetic outcome with relatively preserved lacrimal pump function, endonasal DCR (En-DCR) has gained popularity over external approach. Various studies have shown better outcomes in terms of functional benefits with Ex-DCR approach. Also, simultaneous canalicular obstructions can be treated with Ex-DCR which is a major drawback in En-DCR. The national commission has highlighted that a doctor must have a valid and recognised specialised qualification which is a very important aspect in the view of consumer protection act. Thus, the present video- based course by surgeons with extensive experience in the respective fields, including the legal aspect on En-DCR by ophthalmologists, has been included to uncover the logical approach for proper and safe practice for patient care.
