Objective: To compare performance of trainees on bovine eyes in wet lab for continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis formation using ICO-Score, when they were previously trained in different techniques
Methods: 11 new postgraduates of ophthalmology were subjected to different types of techniques of learning CCC on mobile ,potato, combination of both and on simulator with other two modalities after being randomized into 4 groups. All these groups later underwent wet lab training and operated on bovine eyes.Training was done by trainer who scored them using ICO-Oscar score for performance of CCC formation
Results: The group A trainees could not complete a single capsulorhexis on the bovine eyes whereas the group B postgraduates completed the rhexis in average 448.59 seconds with an average ICO Score of 3.15
Conclusions:Combined training on simulator with potato and mobile app is better than stand alone training on one modality alone as the trainees get adapted for hand eye coordination.
