Purpose:
To demonstrate a sutureless technique for managing limbal dermoid
Methods:
A 6 years old female presented with left eye limbal dermoid, measuring 5*5mm. The BCVA at presentation was 20/125 for distance with a refractive correction of +1.25D S/-4D C at 140 degrees. The dermoid was excised and a sclero-corneal lamellar corneal graft was harvested. The graft was glued to the bed using fibrin glue. Post operatively the child was given amblyopia therapy.
Results:
Postoperatively at 1 month, the best corrected visual acuity was 20/100 for distance with a correction of +2.25D S/ -1.5D C at 120 degrees. The astigmatism decreased significantly.
Conclusion:
This is a technique of managing the limbal dermoid, wherein unlike conventional procedure sutures are not used. The procedure being sutureless decreases the chances of suture related complications like, high astigmatism, suture infiltrates and graft infection. It also gives a good cosmetic outcome.
