Purpose:To report a Case of Familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) presenting as Persistent fetal vasculature(PFV)
Introduction:FEVR is an inherited condition with wide variability of expressivity. In severe stages can present as subretinal exudates, epiretinal membranes and retinal folds.
Reports:A 10 year boy presented with diminution of vision in both eyes and leukocoria in left eye since childhood. No history of prematurity.
Best corrected Vision in right eye was 20/200 and left eye PL+ve.Left eye leukocoria was present.Corneal diameter of OD-11mm,OS-10mm.Dilated Fundoscopy of the right eye revealed macular folds with dragged disc.B scan of the left eye showed vitreous haemorrhage, closed retinal detachment with plenty of subretinal deposits.
Conclusion: FEVR can present with great variability between eyes of the same individual.FEVR can be mistaken for PFV due to asymmetry in corneal diameters.Prompt diagnosis and early treatment can preserve the vision and complications.
