Aim was to evaluate the refractive and visual result of LASIK in pediatric patients with anisometropia and amblyopia and assess the predictability and efficacy of the procedure.
Intolerance to spectacles / CL, No obvious cone in orbscan and Pachymetry >500µm are some of the selection criterias. 15 eyes of 15 patients; between 7 -12 years with Male:Female 1:2. None had binocular vision preoperatively Proparacaine hydrochloride & I.V Ketamine was used in 12 & 3 patients repectively. Flap size and diameter were 160µm and 8.5mm respectivey, Technolas 217(B&L) was used with residual stroma≥ 250µm. Follow up at 1day, 1week, 1,3 , 6months and 1 year.The preop and postop (at1 year) spherical equivalent and BCVA is -5.75 and -0.67 and 0.41 and 0.56 respectively. Binocular single vision could be achieved in 13 Cases. LASIK is safe, effective and predictable with no significant complications. Larger group, with longer duration of follow-up, will define long term effects.
