Purpose: To evaluate the systemic vascular autonomic tone in the patients of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) by using Arterial beat to beat blood pressure variability analysis(BPV).
Methods: 35 Patients with CSC and 35 healthy controls were chosen. The systemic vascular autonomic was measured by BPV non-invasively with finger photoplethysmography using Finometer® MIDI and the volume clamp method. Time domain (TD) and frequency domain(FD)parameters were analysed. Time domain parameters and high frequency(HF) measures parasympathetic activity. Low frequency (LF) measures sympathetic activity. LF/HF ratio measures sympathovagal balance.
Results: No significant difference in systemic vascular autonomic (parasympathetic activity and sympathetic activity) between patients & controls as measured from different measures of BPV.
Conclusions: No significant role for systemic autonomic vascular tone in pathogenesis of CSC.
