Purpose: To compare the Intraoperative, Postoperative complications & Patient comfort with Conjunctival Limbal Autograft in Pterygium surgery.
Methods:40 patients were randomised to 2 groups.Group A-CLAG with suture, Group B-CLAG with autoserum .Surgical outcome was assessed for button hole, graft loss, graft edema, graft infection, recurrence.Patients comfort was assessed for redness, pricking sensation and watering.
Results :Surgical outcome – graft tear(4,20%) and button hole(3,15%)were higher in suture techniques, graft loss(1, 5%)was seen in GroupB.Congestion(25,62.5%)and graft edema(12,30%) was more with suture technique, maximum recurrence was seen in group A(5,25%)and group B(4,25%).Patient comfort was highest in sutureless technique with significant p value(0.012).
Conclusion :CLAG with autoserum is the best technique for pterygium surgery with less complications, less recurrences and good patient comfort.
