Accurate axial length measurement is of utmost importance for correct IOL Power determination. Errors in preoperative axial length is the most significant error in IOL power calculation.Objective of cataract surgery has been transformed from merely improving quality of vision to that improving quality of life.Achieving the desired post op refractive state requires accurate measurement of axial length. The present prospective study carried out in a rural based tertiary care teaching hospital was conducted to compare Ocular Axial Length & anterior chamber depth in patients registered for cataract surgery using Immersion A scan and Optical Biometry.patients with H/o Trauma, ocular surgery, RD were excluded. Axial lengths and anterior chamber depth in eyes with different grades of cataract were measured by optical biometry first followed by Immersion A scan and the data analysed.
we found the difference between the measurements obtained by two methods was not statistically significant.
