Abstract
Purpose:
To report the clinical features and topographic findings of superior Pellucid Marginal Corneal Degeneration and the effect of Corneal Collagen Cross Linking (CXL) in it
Methods:
Retrospective review of a patient of superior PMCD. Detailed history, visual acuity at presentation, degree of astigmatism, slit-lamp examination findings, and topographic features were noted. Improvement in visual acuity with spectacles and surgical procedure and final visual acuity was analyzed.
Results:
The visual acuity at presentation was 20/60 in right eye and 20/80 in left eye which improved to 20/40 and 20/60 respectively after C3R. Improvement was noted in the topographic findings and degree of astigmatism.
Conclusions:
PMCD can occur superiorly. The topographic findings of reduced power in the vertical meridian are typical of superior pellucid marginal degeneration. Visual rehabilitation is usually possible with contact lenses. C3R is a better option for superior PMCD
