BACKGROUND-Autologous serum is up-to-the-minute approach in securing conjunctival autograft in pterygium surgery, eliminating all problems of glue and suture. The usefulness of this novel technique to affix variable sized grafts has not been assessed.Hence this study aims to evaluate the efficacy of autologous serum to affix conjunctival autografts of different sizes and determine the largest successfully secured graft size.MATERIAL AND METHODS-A prospective interventional study of 150 pterygium cases of various grades undergoing excision with inferior conjunctival autograft secured with autologous serum.3 groups of autografts as per size were observed for graft stability and complications.RESULTS-48% grafts were small(5x5mm),22% medium(5-7x5mm) and 30% large(>7x5mm) with largest graft of 13mm.93.34% eyes had stable graft without complications.CONCLUSION-Autologous serum is efficient in securing variable sized conjunctival autografts with satisfactory result and minimal complications.
