Purpose: To understand the clinical spectrum of uveitic macular edema (UME) patients in a tertiary eye care centre.
Method: 45 eyes of UME from June’16-Apr’17 were prospectively analysed for inflammatory parameters and other clinical findings.
Result: Mean age was 48.04 yrs (20-75 yrs) with 21 males and 24 females. Anatomical types were 9 anterior, 16 intermediate, 13 posterior and 7 panuveitis. Causes were Idiopathic, TB, Sarcoid, Viral, Post surgery, traumatic and toxoplasma. Examination showed circumcilliary congestion, KPs, AC cells and flare, complicated cataract, post. synechiae, festooned pupil, iris atrophy and nodules, AVF cells, vitritis, snowballs, active snowbanking, vitreous membrane, ERM and ONH edema. Patients were treated with topical NSAIDs and steroids, oral steroids, post. Subtenon steroids, and intravitreal steroids and anti-VEGF.
Conclusion: This UME study showed wide spectrum of etiological factors, inflammatory parameters and varying clinical presentation.
