Retrospective study included 76 eyes of 73 patients underwent phacoemulsification & IOL implantation between Feb.2000 to Feb. 2017.mean age was 40.0 years.Axial length was measured with A-Scan USG & confirmed with B-Scan USG. Special attention was made while giving ocular anaesthesia, during capsulorhexis,& phacoemulsification to prevent extension of zonular dehiscence, vitreous loss, & postoperative diplopia & glare because of IOL edge.Iris retractors were used and CTR was implanted if necessary. RESULTS: Total 76 eyes of 73 patients with mean age of 40.0 years.followup ranged from 2 months to 17 years. All eyes had significant visual improvement. 1 eye had retinal detachment at 6 month postop followup, rest 75 eyes had no serious complications. Diplopia & glare was not observed in any case. CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification & IOL implantation is safe and beneficial in patients with cataract & congenital coloboma of iris.Potential complications can be prevented by meticulous surgery.
